Memberships needed

For almost all of the 20 years that I have lived in Allora I have been honoured by editors of local newspapers when they found my letters acceptable, and have found space on the letters page for them. Today my subject is on the AFL Club of the Brisbane Lions. Oh, I know that rugby league is more entrenched and who can ever doubt the captain of the Brisbane Broncos is an outstanding example of the people who know the name, Darren Lockyer and revere his outstanding career.
With the formation on the Gold Coast of a new AFL team the Suns, Brisbane lost two players to them, as did other clubs.
This left a new and untried if remarkable group who, along with injured senior players, failed to reach their true potential in 2011. As a member of the Lions, I offer a challenge to readers to become members at a level that is affordable to them and their families, and to let the Gold Coast Suns know that the bush can shine brighter than the city every day of the week. Memberships are vital to clubs and the Brisbane Lions is really in a league of its own, and would welcome a new army to support them in 2012, in the shape of memberships.

Melba Morris,
Allora
